Good evening,
My name is Matteo, and I am currently working onboard MY Al Mirqab.
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request information and a quotation for Magnetic Compasses survey and if you can issue a Deviation Card.
Should you require any further technical or logistical details to assess these requests, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Matteo Mastellaro | 3rd Officer

Thank you for your requests, unfortunately I do not survey magnetic compasses.
I can only advise:
According to SOLAS, the deviation table is valid for 2 years if it is performed by a certified company, often people think that it is only for a year.
d.) electrical or magnetic equipment close to the compass is added,
removed or altered; or,
e.) a period of two years has elapsed since the last adjustment and a
record of compass deviations has not been maintained, or the recorded
deviations are excessive or when the compass shows physical defects.
Also compass adjustment can perform by master or ch.mate and the ship’s deviation table was issued
If a qualified compass adjuster is unavailable and the Master or Ch.Mate considers it
necessary then adjustments may be made by a person holding a Certificate of STCW II/2
In addition, compasses should be inspected occasionally by a competent officer or compass adjuster.
if this is an urgent matter, as a last resort you can request permission from the flag to sail without table
Note The Administration, if it considers it unreasonable or unnecessary to require a standard magnetic compass, may exempt any ship from these requirements if the nature of the voyage, the ship’s proximity to land or the type of ship does not warrant a standard compass, provided that a suitable steering compass will in all cases be required.
